Death in DR: Mom of Four Dies 2 Days Post Plastic Surgery

    By Surgical TimesDecember 28, 2022

Sucretta Tolliver, a Chicago mother of four, died December 14th after undergoing a cosmetic surgery procedure in the Dominican Republic.

The late Ms. Tolliver was also a beloved former nurse and a successful boutique manager in Chicago’s Brighton Park.

Her family wants a full investigation into how the tragedy unfolded, and is summoning the might of the U.S. FBI and State Department to do so.

Tolliver’s daughter, Mariah Price, says her mom traveled to the Dominican Republic for an unspecified plastic surgery procedure that was performed on December 12th, and that she then died two days later on Dec. 14 at a recovery home, following excruciating pain.

“The unofficial death certificate does say internal bleeding,” Mr. William Tolliver told NBC 5 Chicago.

NBC 5 Chicago broke this story in “Family in Mourning After Beloved Mother Dies Following Surgery in Dominican Republic,” from which this article draws all of its material facts.

According to multiple comments on social media, the surgeon who performed Sucretta Tolliver’s surgery, a Brazilian butt lift, was Dr. Felix Almanzar. NBC 5 reports they repeatedly reached out to the surgeon (unnamed by NBC), who did not respond.
