Turkey

Turkey ranks 5th globally for the number of cosmetic surgical procedures performed, and 12th place globally for the total number of plastic surgeons it has in practice. Above-average levels of death and disfigurement are associated with plastic surgery performed in the country. Medical tourism is typically not advised, though cosmetic procedures are available at greatly-reduced rates in Turkey due to currency conversion rates and, according to some experts, a lack of oversight and professional or governmental regulation. Adding confusion to advisories, a handful of highly-reputable U.S. plastic surgeons credit some Turkish plastic surgeons with greatly advancing the field of rhinoplasty surgery. Patients considering visiting should be aware that numerous social media accounts featuring the alleged results of Turkish plastic surgery have been found to be digitally altered (photoshopped) images. Look for video that shows before-and-after results, not still images. If it looks to good to be true, it probably is.
