    ‘Dr. Kim’ Banned from TikTok

Shanghai surgeon’s facelifts went viral, often for “Uncanny Valley vibes.” Account with similar content, same contact information, remains live.

A hyper-viral TikTok account that shared the alleged results of one surgeon’s extreme plastic surgery work has been banned and removed from the social media platform for reasons unknown.

The ‘Dr. Kim’ TikTok account, @jiezou16, created in June 2023, was banned in February, after accumulating 244.2K followers and 3.1 million video likes.

It attracted attention because it showed such dramatic plastic surgery, variously described by viewers as stunning or terrifying.

The account had no bio, listed no legal name or licensed provider, and linked to a website that was never live.

A WhatsApp number was the only way to reach the supposed surgeon.

Dr. Kim operated out of Shanghai, China, a manager for the WhatsApp account told the Times in January.

Fifty-thousand dollars cash would cover the cost of a Dr. Kim facelift, they said.

YouTube creator “Tuv” was quoted $5,000 as the cost of a mini facelift and covered accommodations.

The creator of “morbid documentaries” linked Dr. Kim to another surgeon in late January, whose TikTok account remains live today.

Dr. Kim’s facelifts were typically beyond even extreme facial plastic surgery, seen seven or so days after surgery, captions shared.

Captions suggested the surgeon’s 50 and 60-year-old patients ended up looking “like little girls.”

Viewers often called the viral results terrifying.

Surgeons warned the doctor’s work might leave long-lasting visible scars across patients’ foreheads.

TikTok says it permanently bans accounts for reasons including deceptive impersonation, severe violations, depicting real-world torture, and exceeding strike thresholds for multiple violations of a policy or feature.

The reason for Dr. Kim’s TikTok ban specifically is unknown.

Accounts With Similar Content, Same Contact Number Still Live

At least one other account featuring similarly extreme plastic surgery work—and linking only to the same WhatsApp number Dr. Kim did—remains live, at https://www.tiktok.com/@liangauxsr2.

Tuv, the morbid documentarian, first reported on Dr. Kim’s ban in a February 16 TikTok video.
