Pro Bono Botch Repair Brightens Patient’s Journey

Victoria Michaels was 'botched, neglected and abused' in 2022. A Philadelphia plastic surgeon offered pro bono revision and repair work.
    By Staff ReportsMay 30, 2024

A 30-year-old New York beauty technician, botched in a 2022 tummy tuck procedure by an unnamed surgeon who she says “almost killed” her, has had pro bono revision and repair work at the hands of Philadelphia plastic surgeon Christian Subbio, M.D.

It’s a bright spot on a 200lb weight loss and skin removal surgery journey that has attracted the support and attention of nearly 70,000 followers and friends across social media.

Victoria Michaels (@nulleigh) was “botched, neglected and abused,” two years ago, after losing almost 200 pounds.

She says she awoke from that surgery and “looked horrendous,” and was then given the “worst treatment ever” by an unnamed surgeon.

Sharing her story and suffering on social media brought her plight to the attention of “a very famous, reputable and well known surgeon,” who said he would perform a revision and repair for her for free.

“He responded and said he’d revise my surgery for free,” Michaels wrote on Instagram, describing her interactions with the board-certified Philadelphia plastic surgeon who would later perform her pro bono revision and repair work.

December 10, 2023, Victoria Michaels, on Instagram (@nulleigh): “I spent years hating myself and felt trapped in an almost 400 pound body. One day I woke up, said “Fuck THIS” and fast forward ended up losing almost 200 pounds. I got to the point of being cleared for skin removal, found someone who (for a cosmetic upgrade fee) made me believe they were giving me an FDL tummy tuck over a panni with add ons and I ended up botched + neglected and abused. To think a surgeon left me in this condition that you see here in the befores and thought that I had “body dysmorphia”/would not revise their work because they thought it was a job well done. Wow. So after being denied by the practice, I vulnerably came to TikTok to vent. I went viral and @dr.subbio changed my life. Subbio saw my story on TikTok and forever changed my life. I traveled to PA and on 12/06/23 Subbio performed a Corset Trunkplasty. I am scheduled for my Breast Lift/Augmentation in April and he will address my side/underarm area and if he needs to do any tweaking on this- he will at the same time! This INCREDIBLE man transformed my botched body and I can’t wait to continue to share my story with the world. This story teaches the act of kindness, lifechanging gifts, botched plastic surgery, medical malpractice awareness and the strength you can find yourself while feeling defeated.”

“He told me that he would be happy to gift me the entire revision surgery pro bono. He said he wanted me to travel to his state for a consult to make sure i’m a good candidate and if I was—I would only be responsible for anesthesia, facility fees and an injection fee.

“He said he was scrolling on [TikTok] eating Cheetos one night and saw my story. Now here we are.”
