Another round of a Turkish facial plastic surgeon’s purported results are going viral.
Suggestions of photoshop and potential digital alteration are dispersed throughout, but on the whole, viewers say they believe the same patient is pictured.
While experts say the industry is experiencing an “epidemic” of shady before and after pictures, few surgeons, including several we reached out to about Turkey and the surgeon behind this case, wish to name names or comment on specific surgeons or controversies.
It makes for great TikTok and Twitter fodder, but leaves potential patients fending for themselves.
Idk but there's clear photoshop goin on here pic.twitter.com/mzHcV7TuyF

A post featuring the results on X, formerly Twitter, had been viewed 35 million times as of Wednesday.

Last year, the performing surgeon’s clinic declined answering allegations that similarly dramatic images were digitally altered.
Then, a doctor who is perhaps America’s most prominent plastic surgeon, said he believed the results were legitimate, adding that make up was present in the postoperative pictures.
In the interim, the surgeon or practice has changed its name and social media handles 2-4 times, a move some former patients allege is a response to mounting bad reviews and a build up of botched cases.
Has anyone heard of @drmayaesthetic or @drmay_aesthetic on Instagram?

Instagram (Meta, Inc.) says the account in question is based in Turkey, and has 4 former usernames.
“The number of times an account changes its username may help you identify whether it’s authentic or misleading,” Instagram (Meta, Inc.) says.
It’s under one of those former usernames that our attempts to hear from the clinic occurred, in September 2023.
After answering the Times’ questions about procedures done and the performing surgeon’s credentials, the clinic ceased responding when we shared a summary of the allegations we’d heard from several independent sources.
They said photoshop or other digital alterations were involved.
The clinic stopped answering.

The account previously went by the name @drmayaesthetic.
