According to marketing material and digital order forms evidently from Statista Inc, doctors hoping to promote that they made it onto Newsweek’s list of “America’s Best Plastic Surgeons,” could be looking at logo licensing rates starting as high as $10,000.
Newsweek partnered with global market research and data firm Statista in March and April of this year to survey relevant healthcare providers nationally and determine America’s best plastic surgeons according to peer recommendations and quality assessments.
Newsweek’s lists, published in June, cover the 200 best breast augmentation surgeons and the 150 best plastic surgeons for rhinoplasty, liposuction, and facelifts.
These are the industry’s highest-grossing procedures nationally, according to 2019 figures from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Figures for 2020 are unpublished.
Highest-Grossing Plastic Surgery Procedures
# | Procedure | Total Expenditure U.S. |
1 | Breast augmentation | $1.183 Billion |
2 | Rhinoplasty | $1.121 Billion |
3 | Liposuction | $941 Million |
4 | Facelift | $923 Million |
The resulting list of America’s Best could likewise be rather lucrative.
If all plastic surgeons appearing on the lists purchased one instance of the most basic one-year license, net proceeds would amount to approximately $3,870,000.
Across all four lists, 387 individual plastic surgeons fill the combined 650 positions, with many surgeons appearing on more than one of the four lists.
“The Licensee may not attribute any statement of fact to either Newsweek or Statista beyond your placement on the list in your respective industry.”

The most basic “Silver” license for a years’ use of any one of the four virtually identical logos is $10,000 according to the order form. It allows for use of the logo on a company website, investor presentations, print and digital signage, official documents, e-mail signatures, and non-paid social media posts. Additional usages of the same logo are available under a “Gold” plan for $15,000, and a “Platinum” plan for $17,500.
While a copyrighted logo is certainly a licensable asset in some aspects, the simple statement of a fact isn’t.
America’s best plastic surgeons could simply share the fact that according to a national survey conducted in 2021 by Newsweek and Statista, some of their peers selected them as being among “America’s Best Plastic Surgeons” with exactly no one’s permission—providing, of course, that they actually appear on the list.
The survey’s national scope and its methodology set the resulting lists above many of the industry’s existing “best-of” accolades, most of which are paid promotion spots and advertorials.
